Listed below are the most commonly asked questions about our services. If your question isn’t answered below or you need more information, you can give us a call on 0208 004 8101 or use the ‘Ask George’ form on this page.
Q: Do you have insurance?
We hold Goods in Transit insurance which covers the entire content of our vehicles whilst in transit to a maximum value of £10,000. More comprehensive insurance is available or you can use your own home contents insurance (please check with your insurer).
Q: Do you move items to flats above ground floor?
Yes we do. There is no surprise charges for collection or delivery to premises above ground floor. It’s a lot more time-consuming to carry goods up several flights of stairs and will be accomadated in the quoted price.
Q: For small removals and student moves, do I need to dismantle flat-pack furniture?
Certain items can be moved in one piece, such as chests of drawers and bedside tables. However, larger items of flat-pack furniture such as wardrobes are not sturdy enough to be safely moved in one piece. Our staff will advise at the time but flat-pack furniture moved in one piece are not covered by insurance. We do offer a dismantling service that must be booked in advance due to the time is can take to dismantle items.
Q: Do you disconnect washing machines, dishwashers and cookers?
We can disconnect/connect washing machines and dishwashers but our staff are not legally covered or trained to deal with appliances that are hard wired or connected to gas mains.
Q: What can’t I put in your vans?
We cannot take the following items in our vehicles…
- Cash, jewellery and legal documents
- Gas canisters or any pressurised containers
- Any flammable or explosive substances
- Livestock, firearms, ammunition and drugs
We would also advise against any computer equipment such as PC’s or laptops that may contain valuable data. The cost of the machines is often significantly less than the value of the data and for that reason, it’s always recommended you transport these items independently.
Q: Do you provide packing materials?
Yes we do – Simply tell us at the time of booking what you need and we’ll arrange supply and delivery of packing materials. They can also be rented off us providing you use our services and be returned/collected at a later date.
Q: Can I travel in the van?
Yes you can (space permitting) although it is entirely at your own risk and there is a surcharge of 30p per mile travelled (i.e. £30 per 100 miles). We do not allow any food or drink to be consumed in our vehicles and smoking is strictly prohibited.
Q: Will you empty my loft/attic?
Yes we do – As long as it is safe to do so. Your loft must be boarded, have secure access and a light supply.
Q: Do i have to arrange parking?
If parking is difficult outside your property or there are restrictions either we or yourself can arrange a solution with your local council. All parking fines incurred as a result of the job will be paid by you.
